How I work
I mainly take on planned bathroom, ensuite and shower installation work in Witney and West Oxfordshire.
My focus is on fewer projects done properly — with clear communication, careful preparation and a reliable finish.
When you get in touch, you deal directly with me — the person who visits, advises, quotes and carries out the work.
I’m not trying to be the cheapest option, and I don’t take on every type of bathroom enquiry. At this stage, I prefer to work on projects where my time, experience and attention to detail are properly valued.
This page explains how I work, what to expect, and whether I’m likely to be the right fit for your project
1. First contact & site visit
Once I receive your enquiry, I’ll first check whether it sounds like the right type of project for me.
I may ask for a few photos, basic measurements, or a short description of what you’d like done before arranging a visit. This helps make sure the project is suitable and avoids wasting anyone’s time.
If it looks like a good fit, I’ll arrange a site visit.
At the visit, I’ll:
-
Look at the existing layout, plumbing and access
-
Talk through what you want to achieve
-
Offer practical advice based on experience
-
Flag any potential issues early
There’s no sales pressure — just clear, honest advice about whether the job is right for me and whether I’m right for the job.
2. Quoting
After the visit, I’ll provide a clear written quote for the agreed scope of work.
The quote will set out:
-
The work included
-
The labour and installation cost
-
Any materials or sundries included
-
Any items you are supplying yourself
-
Anything not included unless clearly stated
I don’t do vague estimates or open-ended day-rate arrangements for quoted projects. The price is based on the agreed work, the preparation involved, and the responsibility of completing the job properly.
If something changes, or if extra work is uncovered once the job starts, I’ll explain the options and costs before proceeding.
3. Choosing products
You’re free to choose your own sanitaryware, tiles, showers, furniture and accessories.
I’m also happy to recommend suppliers or products that I know work well, fit properly and are easier to maintain.
If you are supplying items yourself, they need to be suitable, complete and on site before they are needed. Delays caused by missing, incorrect or incompatible items may affect the programme and cost.
I’ll always give practical advice where I can, but the final choice of style, finish and client-supplied products is yours.
4. The work itself
I carry out the work personally and in the correct order, from preparation through to the finished details.
Depending on the project, this may include:
-
Strip-out
-
Plumbing alterations
-
Boarding and preparation
-
Waterproofing where required
-
Tiling
-
Fitting sanitaryware, screens, furniture and accessories
-
Final finishing and sealing
I work carefully, protect your home as much as possible, and keep the job organised throughout.
Bathroom and shower work can involve dust, noise and disruption, especially during strip-out and preparation. I’ll always aim to keep this to a minimum and leave the work area tidy at the end of each day.
If something unexpected comes up once the room is opened up, I’ll explain the issue, the options and any extra cost before proceeding.
5. Timescales & availability
Because I carry out the work personally, availability can be limited and lead times vary.
I don’t try to take on every enquiry or squeeze too many jobs into the diary. My focus is on giving each accepted project the time and attention it needs.
Typical full bathroom and ensuite projects usually take around 8–10 working days, depending on the size, layout, preparation needed and the products being fitted.
Smaller planned jobs, such as shower tray replacements or shower-over-bath installations, may take less time, but I’ll always advise on this once I understand the scope.
The benefit of this approach is:
-
One point of contact
-
Consistent workmanship
-
Clear communication
-
Full accountability from start to finish
6. Payments
Payment stages are agreed in advance and clearly set out in the quote.
For larger projects, payments are usually staged so the job is fair and manageable for both sides.
Any additional work, changes or unexpected issues will be discussed and agreed before proceeding.
I aim to keep costs clear from the start, with no vague extras or last-minute surprises.
7. Who will be working in your home
When you choose West Oxford Bathrooms & Kitchens, the work is carried out by me, the owner of the business.
That means you deal directly with the person who visits, advises, quotes and carries out the work.
I don’t run teams of subcontractors or pass the job between different people. This keeps communication clear, avoids confusion and gives you one point of contact from start to finish.
I treat every home with care and aim to keep the work organised, tidy and respectful throughout.
This owner-led approach means I take on fewer projects, but each accepted job gets proper attention.
